Why We Walk and Who We AreThe first five years of life are the most critical in a child’s development. At Southwest HumanDevelopment, our services improve lives and help families by supporting young children and theircaregivers during this important time.In partnership with families, we provide children with the care, attention and support needed to setthem on a path to success in school and life, and help them reach their fullest capabilities.Walk With Me raises funds to first support our Easterseals Disabilities Services, but it also raisesawareness for the programs and services available for all families within the state.Southwest Human Development was founded by Ginger Ward, MAEd, Chief Executive Officer, in 1981and a staff of six. Under Ginger’s direction, the agency has established a national reputation forleadership and high-quality services in the early childhood fields of education, mental health, familysupport, disabilities services and professional development. Who Does Walk With Me Support?Who benefits from your support? Hundreds of families with young children seek the support ofSouthwest Human Development and Easterseals each year.Each year, we designate several families to serve as our Ambassadors. These families share theirchallenges and triumphs in order for the community to know the needs that exist and to learn aboutthe solutions and triumphs that can be found with the proper care.Here are some of our past Ambassadors and their stories. You can read more about them by clickinghere.Some of the children we support, like Santino, are born with rare conditions thatrestrict their mobility. Born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, a rare conditionthat leads to contracted joints and a shortening or distortion of muscle or connectivetissues, the ADAPT Shop has given him mobility never imagined.Other parents have experienced heartache after being told their child,like Dylan, would never sit, stand or walk. But yet, they received hopeand assistance at Southwest Human Development.And some parents utilize more than one of our services. Braulio and his parentsreceived help from the Birth to Five Helpline as well as the ADAPT Shop. This ray ofsunshine is happy, loud and loves to play Monopoly and basketball. It’s hard tobelieve that it’s been nearly 10 years since we first met him at Walk With Me.FUNDRAISING TOOLKIT FOR SUCCESS Page 4

What’s Happening in 2021?Walk With Me was started as a family fun walk more than ten years ago and has evolved into a walk, alongwith a family-friendly carnival. Due to Covid-19, Walk With Me looks different this year, but we will still havefun and are planning activities leading up to the Walk Week of March 15-19 for the entire family to enjoy.We encourage you to be creative in your fundraising and include your family and friends where possible. If youneed some inspiration to get started, check out our Fundraising Ideas to get your ideas flowing.At the conclusion of the Walk Week, we are hosting a Drive Thru Celebration on March 20 at the Gila RiverArena, thanks to our presenting sponsor, Arizona Coyotes. The Drive Thru Celebration will be the place to pickup any prizes you might have won for the total donations you brought in, as well as a family-friendlyexperience to see some costumed characters and other treats still in the works.THERE ARE PRIZES?!Yes, we have some fun items that anyone who reaches the following donation levels will receive on March 20(or after if you are still collecting donations through March 2021).For those that raise 1,000 or more, you receive all of the itemsabove, plus premium seats to an Arizona Coyotes home game in April.FUNDRAISING TOOLKIT FOR SUCCESS Page 5

How Do I Participate?Getting registered is the first step! CLICK HERE NOW TO VIST OUR REGISTRATION PAGEWhen you arrive to the Registration page, you’ll want to select “BECOME A FUNDRAISER.”When you click “Become a Fundraiser,”this is what you will see:Enter your First and Last Name, MobileNumber and Email and then submit.You will receive an email confirming your page has been set up. You can now start sharing that pagewith your family, friends and co-workers.Below is an example of our Event Manager’s Walk Page and what each section means:The graphics and statement below“Impact” and “Donors” is prepopulated, so that will stay as is.This is her direct WalkPage link – yours will bespecific to your nameThis is her text link.If someone sends“2021WALK14” to71777, they will besent to this page.When you share your page, you will wantto ask those you know to select either“Make a Donation” or “Join My Team.”“Make a Donation” is a one-timetransaction for any amount.“Join My Team” allows others to collectfunds within your team name.Again, you will haveyour own uniquenumber to share aswell.FUNDRAISING TOOLKIT FOR SUCCESS Page 6

Build A Team!Now that you are registered, invite friends, co-workers and family to join your Team. You can shareyour Team link from a computer or cell phone.Based on the graphic on the previous page, you will direct those who want to join your team to select“Join My Team.” They’ll follow the same steps you did to set up their page and they are then ready toshare as well.What Should I Name My Team?You can name your Team after someone you might be raising money for or you can make it silly. Justmake sure the name is appropriate for all Southwest Human Development visitors to see. What Should My Team Do to Fundraise?Be creative. You can Walk, you can Hike, you can host a Virtual Movie Night.
