REGISTRATION INFORMATIONNon-Resident RefundsTo receive a refund of your non-residenttuition, you must drop your classes throughthe online system according to the following schedule:First 6-Week Session:100% refund for classes dropped byMonday, June 6, 2016.50% refund for classes dropped byMonday, June 13, 2016.8-Week Session:100% refund for classes dropped byMonday, June 27, 2016.50% refund for classes dropped byTuesday, July 5, 2016.Second 6-Week Session:100% refund for classes dropped byMonday, July 18, 2016.50% refund for classes dropped byMonday, July 25, 2016.California ResidencyCalifornia State Assembly Bill 540 (AB540)allows any student who meets all of the following requirements to be exempt frompaying non-resident tuition at CaliforniaCommunity Colleges, the California StateUniversity (CSU), and the University of California (UC).1. The student must have attended a highschool (public or private) in California forthree or more years or have attained credits equivalent to three or more years of highschool coursework and a combination ofthree or more years at a California elementary or secondary school and2. The student must have graduated froma California high school (public or private) orattained the equivalent (e.g., General Educational Development - GED or California HighSchool Proficiency Exam) prior to the start ofthe term at El Camino College.A student who meets the above requirements must file an affidavit with the Admissions & Records Office at El Camino Collegestating that he/she has an application to legalize his/her immigration status or will filean application as soon as he/she is eligibleto do so. In addition to the affidavit, thestudent must also provide an official highschool transcript that clearly shows attendance in all semesters and the date of highschool graduation. If the student attendedmore than one California high school, thenofficial transcripts from all high schoolsmust be provided. If the student graduatedthrough equivalency as mentioned above,then proof must be provided. Attendanceat an adult school does not qualify.Student information obtained in this process is strictly confidential unless disclosure isrequired under law. Students who meet thecriteria will be exempted from the paymentof non-resident tuition but will not be classified as “California Residents.” Students willcontinue to be classified as “Nonresidents.”Students who are in the United States undera student or visitor visa are not eligible.Registration ProcedureEach student is required to have a registration appointment before being permitted toregister. Registration appointments are issuedby the Admissions and Records Office andindicate the day and hour after which students may register. Students who completethe admission requirements may check theirappointment time on MyECC.Students must enroll on the date and timeindicated or any time thereafter in accordancewith the published registration schedule.LimitationsEnrollment in courses and programs maybe limited to students meeting properly established prerequisites and corequisites andfor other reasons outlined in El Camino College Administrative Procedure 5055.Schedule of ClassesBefore the registration period for eachsemester or session, the college publishesa Schedule of Classes listing the coursesoffered and general registration procedures. Schedules are available online atwww.elcamino.edu/admissions/schedule.asp and may also be obtained at the Bookstore for a nominal fee. A searchable classschedule showing open and available classes is also available online.Priority RegistrationIn compliance with Section 58108 of Title 5,California Administrative Code, priority registration will be implemented as follows:Registration Time AllowanceA. All students may register on or aftertheir scheduled registration appointmenttime, but not before.B. All students must register by the published deadlines and in accordance withthe policies and procedures of the District.If a student fails to meet these deadlines orto follow the District’s policies and/or procedures, the student will not be allowed to register for the course. A student who attendsand participates in a course without properregistration will neither receive credit nor agrade for that course and the backdating ofregistration will not be considered by theDistrict unless the student can prove thathe/she properly registered in a timely man-5ner and it was a college error that caused theregistration to fail.A hold against a student (dean, fee, dismissal, etc.), a failure by the student to apply for admissions, a failure by the studentto meet prerequisites or corequisites, anunapproved course overload, a K-12 formor process not properly executed, an admissions hold (residency, AB540, missing data,etc.) not resolved by the student in the manner and timeframe prescribed by the Districtshall not be considered to be college error.A student will not be allowed to enroll in aclass if there is any time overlap with anotherclass.A student may not be allowed to enroll ina class if the enrollment violates any of therepeat rules as set forth in Title 5 or in the ElCamino College policy and procedure onrepeats. Continuing students with the same earned unit value willbe prioritized randomly.Students within a new/returning studentpriority level will be prioritized by the submission date of their application for admissions. New/returning students who appliedon the same day will be prioritized randomly.Eligible new students in Priority Levels 1, 2,3, 4, and 6 must have completed orientation,assessment, and developed an educationalplan. Please contact theAdmissions and Records Office for any information regarding your rights under the Act.Unit LimitationsThe student’s program of studies will varyaccording to individual need and objectives.There is no minimum but the maximumprogram for a semester is 18 units withouta physical education class and 19 units witha physical education class. The maximumprogram of study summer session is 10 unitsif at least one unit is in physical education.The minimum full-time student program is12 units per semester. A student wishing totake more than the maximum units may filea petition through the Counseling ServicesDivision. Students must have completed atleast 15 transferable units in one semester atEl Camino College with a 2.75 grade pointaverage and an overall grade point averageof 2.5 or higher to be eligible for an overload.In addition to scheduled class hours, students should include in their weekly schedule the time necessary to study and prepare for classes. Each student is expectedto spend two hours per week in study andpreparation for each class hour per week inlecture courses. Students who work in business or industry should reduce their totalstudy programs in proportion to the demands of their employment and personalactivities. If employment requires 40 hoursChildren in ClassroomsChildren are not permitted in classroomswhile class is in session. Attendance in classis limited to officially enrolled students andauthorized visitors or guests only. In addition, students shall not allow children to beleft unattended or unsupervised anywhereon campus. It is the responsibility of eachfaculty member to inform students of thisrequirement.Student RecordsHigh School StudentsBy law, El Camino College may restrict K-12enrollment based on any of the following:age, grade, academic preparation, seat availability or registration priority. District policyrestricts concurrent enrollment to studentswho have completed the 10th grade.El Camino College will grant college creditfor completed coursework. Students shouldconsult their school counselor and/or schooldistrict policy on enrolling in college classesto earn high school credits or dual credit.Students - When you enroll in classes atEl Camino College, you are considered acollege student and are expected to actaccordingly. Please familiarize yourself withEl Camino College policies, procedures,the college calendar, and your rights as astudent by reading the class schedule andpurchasing a college catalog from the ECCBookstore. It is also available online.Eleventh and 12th grade students mustsubmit an up-to-date application for admissions online, have a fully completed andsigned concurrent enrollment form on filein admissions, and have turned in any supporting documentation to the AdmissionsOffice prior to the start of a semester or thestart of a session in summer. Failure to meetthe admissions deadline will preclude thestudent from registering in any classes forthat term. Late admissions and late registration will not be considered for concurrentlyenrolled high school students.Parents - when your child enrolls in classesat El Camino College, you lose some rightsafforded you by the K-12 system.As per FERPA (Family Educational Rightsand Privacy Act) any business you conducton behalf of your college student must bewith the student’s written consent. You, theparent, will need a note from your child toaccess private educational records or to acton his or her behalf.Applying to El Camino College does notguarantee a seat in a class. Registration priority is given to continuing students first, followed by new and returning students, andthen concurrently enrolled high school students. These students must go through theapplication process each semester or termthat they are enrolled as a concurrently enrolled student.Equivalent ses completed at other colleges anduniversities may be used to meet a prerequisite. Some high school courses, as statedin the college catalog, may also be used tomeet a prerequisite.Students who have completed equivalentcourses at another college or in high schoolmust have copies of necessary transcripts.Do not delay. Order transcripts and clearprerequisites prior to registration. Clearancefor an equivalent course may be obtained inDrop-In Counseling or the appropriate academic division office.TranscriptsStudents who plan to attend under veterans or Social Security benefits; receive academic advisement to become matriculated;or need to have coursework at other colleges reviewed for prerequisite clearance, mustrequest college transcripts from all schoolsattended be sent to the El Camino CollegeAdmissions and Records Office.Students who plan to graduate from ElCamino College with a degree or certificateand wish to have course work taken at othercolleges considered for graduation must request official transcripts to be mailed fromthe other colleges to the El Camino CollegeRecords Office. Hand-carried transcriptsfrom the student or any other party will notbe accepted.Ordering transcripts is easy. Go online24/7 to www.elcamino.edu/admissions/transcripts.asp and follow the instructions.The first two El Camino College transcriptsare free. Additional transcripts incur a fee asdetermined by college policy and are payable at the time of the transcript request.Transcripts are processed on a first in, firstout basis.

REGISTRATION INFORMATIONCross Enrollmentat CSU Dominguez HillsEl Camino College students who are eligible may cross-enroll at CSU DominguezHills without formal admission and withoutpayment of state university tuition, in a maximum of one baccalaureate-level course persemester on a space-available basis. Suchenrollment would be at the discretion of theappropriate campus authorities on each ofthe campuses.A student must meet the requirements ofcross enrollment to be eligible. Additional information on requirements and proceduresmay be obtained at the El Camino CollegeAdmissions and Records Office or Counseling Center.Academic DishonestyAcademic Dishonesty violates El CaminoCollege’s Administrative Procedure 5500 Standards of Student ConductEl Camino College is dedicated to maintaining an optimal learning environment and insists upon academic honesty. To uphold theacademic integrity of the institution, all members of the academic community, faculty,staff and students alike, must assume responsibility for providing an educational environment of the highest standards characterizedby a spirit of academic honesty.Examples of academic dishonesty includebut are not limited to: Representing the words, ideas, or work of another as one’s own in any academic exerciseincluding the use of commercial term papercompanies or online sources for essays, termpapers, or research papers, whether free orpaid.Copying from another student or former student or allowing another student to copyfrom one’s work. Allowing another individual to assume one’sidentity or assuming the identity of anotherindividual. Changing answers on a previously scoredtest, assignment, or experiment with the intent to defraud. Inventing data for the purpose of completingan assignment, a laboratory experiment, orcase study analysis with the intent to defraud. Obtaining or copying exams or test questions when prohibited by the instructor. Giving or receiving information during anexamination or test by any means such assign language, hand signals or secret codes,or through the use of any electronic device. Using aids such as notes, calculators, or electronic devices unless specifically authorizedby the instructor. Handing in the same paper or other assignment in more than one class when prohibited by the instructor. Any other action that is not an honest reflection of a student’s own academic work. Other forms of dishonesty, including, butnot limited to, forgery or attempted forgeryof any academic record; alteration or misuseof college documents, records or identification; or knowingly furnishing false information to the District. Unauthorized preparation, giving, selling,transfer, distribution, or publication, for anycommercial purpose, of any contemporaneous recording of an academic presentationin a classroom or equivalent site of instruction, including but not limited to handwritten or typewritten class notes, except aspermitted by any District policy or administrative procedure.Responsibility of El Camino CollegeStudentsIt is the responsibility of each student toconduct him/herself in a manner that encourages learning and promotes honesty; and toact with fairness toward other students in theclassroom. This incorporates the notion thatstudents should not seek an unfair advantageover other students when completing an assignment, taking an examination or engaging in any other kind of academic activity.Consequences for Academic DishonestyWhen there is evidence or knowledge ofacademic dishonesty occurring, any or all ofthe following actions may be imposed:1.
