You can force the printer to continue to print and use up as much toner as possible by selectingthe CONTINUE MODE.Please read instructions from start to finish, before you start your refill.TONER LOW - The Toner LED will turn on for 2 seconds and off for 3 seconds ignore message - Keep printingIn “Stop mode” you would be required to empty and refill at this point.However you can use the CONTINUE MODE to override this default setting andprint for longer see below.How to select Continue mode:To force the machine to continue printing after the LEDs indicate REPLACE TONER, press Go seven times toenter Continue mode (all the LEDs flash twice, and then the Ready LED turns on).The machine will then continue printing until the LEDs indicate TONER ENDEDMFC / DCP version of the machine : To enable Continue Mode, please follow the steps below:1. Press MENU and choose General Setup Replace Toner.2. Use the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Continue and then press OK.3. Press STOP/EXIT(To return to the default setting (Stop mode), press Go seven times (all the LEDs flash once).Replace toner (CONTINUE MODE) – the toner light is on but you can continue toprint.CONTINUE MODE - Toner Light on continuously with error light lit - machine willnot print – Empty it and Refill it (TONER ENDED)You must now empty and refill. Place printercartridge on several sheets of newspaper.3 Locate the hoppercap on yourcartridge. Normallyhidden behind thelabel4 Remove thehopper cap usingneedle nose pliers,or a flat bladescrewdriver to leverout the hopper cap.5 WARNING: You must ensure all toner isdumped from your cartridge before refilling withthe new toner. You must do this every refill.Empty in an areathat can tolerate atoner spill i.e. yourgarage.Brother cartridges can leave as much as 25 grams ofwaste toner in the cartridge, while reporting tonerempty/refusing to print. Important - mixing new andold toner will cause print defects to occur.6 Shake your bottleof new tonervigorously for 30seconds BEFOREremoving the cap.Remove the cap andseal from the bottle8 Insert the spoutinto the hole. Thetoner will flow outlike water, so takecare not to spill it.10 Replace the capin your tonercartridge, using thenew plug provided.Toner can be verymessy - empty theold toner directlyinto a large bin bag.7 Fit the tonerpouring spoutsecurely to thebottle.Spouts arereusable.9. With the spoutinserted – carefully“Upend” thecartridge and allowthe toner to slowlypour into thecartridge.11 Gently rock the cartridge from side to side todistribute the toner in the cartridge. Wipe away anyexcess toner from around the plug.Reset the cartridge using the instruction on thefollowing page. You will need to reset the flaggear in order to reset the cartridge, after refilling. Follow instructions below.Starter cartridges*Please note that the starter cartridges (ship withnew printers) do not have the reset gear included.You will need to purchase a reset gear.Starter cartridge shown above.Remove the 2 screws as shown opposite.Very carefully remove the end cover plate to revealthe reset gear and various cogs.We do not want to dislodge any cogs or gears sobe careful!Remove only the white reset gear.
