Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church & School20882 Walden Ave. Hutchinson, MN 55350SECOND LESSON – Romans 3:19-2819FIRST SUNDAY OF END TIMEREFORMATION SUNDAYOCTOBER 30, 2016Sunday School, ILS and Children of Grace will sing: "By Faith"Today we follow the order of Morning Praise on page 45.HYMN - 201 “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”OH, COME, LET US SING TO THE LORDFIRST LESSON – Jeremiah 31:31-34“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a newcovenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 32 Itwill not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I tookthem by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke mycovenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord.31“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after thattime,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write iton their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 Nolonger will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know theLord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to thegreatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickednessand will remember their sins no more.”33PSALM 46Now we know that whatever the law says, under the law, so that every mouth may beworld held accountable to God. 20 Thereforerighteous in God’s sight by the works of thelaw we become conscious of our sin.it says to those who aresilenced and the wholeno one will be declaredlaw; rather, through the21But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been madeknown, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 Thisrighteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinnedand fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by hisgrace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.25God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through theshedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this todemonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had leftthe sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it todemonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just andthe one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? Thelaw that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the worksof the law.CHOIR – “Declaration of Faith”GOSPEL – John 8:31-36To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to myteaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”31They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and havenever been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be setfree?”33Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave tosin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a sonbelongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be freeindeed.34CHILDREN’S SERMON

Now you can see the story ofMartin Luther and the Reformation brought to life throughastonishing artworks and historical objects, traveling outsideGermany for the first time ever. Luther used art and the newlyinvented printing press to challenge Europe’s leaders and spreada revolution of religious, cultural, and societal change.
