POSITION OVERVIEWThe assistant vice president (AVP) for student affairs is a full-time sharedappointment within the Division of Student Affairs and the Texas A&MUniversity System (TAMUS) Office of Academic Affairs. Responsibilities shall bedivided as 75% with the Division of Student Affairs and 25% with the TAMUSOffice of Academic Affairs.The AVP reports to the vice president for student affairs and will assist in theareas of TAMU student/student organization appeal processes, coordination ofTAMUS student affairs divisions, TAMU expressive activities, coordination withTAMU branch and satellite campuses, and special projects at the direction ofthe vice president. In addition, they will provide oversight to the Departmentof Disability Resources and the Department of Information Technology in thedivision.In conjunction with the vice president and other senior staff members, thisposition works to set strategic direction for and raises the visibility of theDivision of Student Affairs, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders,and furthers initiatives that contribute to student success, learning, anddevelopment.Key Responsibilities Coordinate communication and compliance of TAMUS divisions of studentaffairs across all campuses to ensure policies and initiatives are developedand implemented within the context of the TAMU system’s immediate andlong-range planning goals. Coordinate data collection and reporting to theTAMU system. Coordinate and manage the TAMU student/student organization appealprocesses concerning suspension or expulsion as a result of a findingof responsibility for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, as wellas all rule changes associated with University Disciplinary Appeals Panelprocesses. Supervise the departments of Disability Resources and InformationTechnology to include supervision, overseeing goals and objectives,the development of budgets and management of resources, programassessment and evaluation, and policies and procedure. Manage and coordinate the Division of Student Affairs Activity Resource& Response Team to respond to campus expressive activities and provideguidance to students seeking to exercise their First Amendment rights. Manage special projects as assigned and provide strategic advice anddirection on various issues to the vice president for student affairs and/orthe vice chancellor of academic affairs.APPLICATION INFORMATIONReview of applications will begin February 12, 2021, and will continue until theposition is filled.
