Thisincludes items such as special bodies,body conversions, fuel system conversions,trailer hitches, window tints, sunroofs, theftalarms, etc.DAMAGE TO INTERIOR SURFACES:Damage to finished interior surfaces suchas upholstery, wood, leather, suede, plastic,chrome, glass, rug and paint caused byexternal influence, misuse or negligenceis not covered. Some examples include,but are not limited to, spills, chafe marks,scratches, and impressions from heavyobjects or clamping force (such as a strapor mounting device). All weask is that you properly maintain and carefor the vehicle and that you have warrantyrepairs or adjustments performed by anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dealer.Please note the difference between“defects” and “damage” as used in thewarranty. Defects are covered sincewe, the manufacturer or distributor areresponsible. Conversely, we have nocontrol over damage caused by suchthings as, but not limited to collision,misuse, and lack of maintenance.Therefore, damage for whatever reason isnot covered by the warranty.MAINTENANCE SERVICES AREALSO NOT COVERED BY THEWARRANTY SINCE IT IS THE OWNER’SRESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THEVEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICESCHEDULE PROVIDED.All maintenance services must beaccomplished to keep your warrantycoverage valid. When requestingservice or repair work under warranty,the owner must present to theauthorized Mercedes-Benz Sprinterdealer, evidence that the periodicservicing requirements have beenaccomplished. Receipts coveringcompletion of regular servicing shouldbe retained, in the event a questionarises concerning maintenance.These receipts should be transferredto each subsequent owner of thevehicle. For your convenience, theService Booklet has been designed toincorporate the signature and stampof your authorized Mercedes-BenzSprinter dealer upon completion of therequired maintenance services.This signature is evidence ofcompletion of the maintenanceservices and should be kept togetherwith other receipts, repair orders andinvoices. If the owner has a warrantyclaim and can show through receiptedinvoices that the vehicle has receivedthe required servicing, the dealer willperform the warranty work withoutcharging for parts and labour. It is theresponsibility of the owner to proveand the dealer to judge whether therequired maintenance service has beenperformed.

Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Things You Should KnowMBC’s obligation is limited to theauthorization to exchange or repairat its option such parts which areacknowledged by it to be defective.In case of defective assemblies,factory rebuilt units can be used inexchange instead of their repair. Thereplaced defective parts or assembliesshall become the property of MBC.Warranty repairs do not constitutean extension of the original warrantyperiod for the vehicle or a part thereof.The term “adjustments” as used in thewarranty relates to minor repairs normallynot connected with the replacement ofparts. The warranty covers adjustmentsnecessary to correct defects.For example, if a part should becomeloose or misaligned during normal use orservice, it will be corrected without chargeany time during the 12 month or 20,000km adjustment period.NOTE: If these parts are damagedor worn due to racing or competitivedriving events, accident, misuse orlack of maintenance, which is beyondour control, these damaged parts arenot covered under this term.Depending on your model, it is equippedwith one or two main batteries. Theservice life of the battery(s) is dependenton their condition of charge.If you use the vehicle less than 300 kmper month, mostly for short distancetrips or if it is not used for more thanthree (3) weeks at a time, it is yourresponsibility to have the battery chargechecked and corrected. In such cases wealso recommend the use of an approvedMercedes-Benz trickle charger which isavailable at your authorized MercedesBenz Sprinter dealer. Please observethe battery charging instructions in yourvehicle’s operator’s manual.11

12Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Things You Should KnowInsurance Write-Off; or Repaired orReplaced PartsAny vehicle which has been damaged tosuch an extent that the owner, insurer,financing institution or leasing companydetermined the vehicle to be a “total loss”,“write off” or equivalent, is not coveredby these warranties. This includes but isnot limited to vehicles issued as “salvage”,“scrap”, “dismantled” or similar title underany provinces law.Any parts repaired or replaced under aninsurance claim or required as a resultof events which are not covered underthis warranty (see “Items Which Are NotCovered”, page 8), for example, damagesdue to accidents, misuse, or negligence,and in either case, any subsequentconsequential damage to the vehicle arenot covered by this warranty.Paint and Other Appearance ItemsDefects in paint, trim or other appearanceitems are normally taken care of duringour new vehicle preparation or by thedealer during new vehicle inspection.We suggest that if you find any paint orappearance problems that you adviseyour dealer as soon as possible sincedeterioration due to use and exposure isnot covered by the warranty.The instructions in your Operator’sManual regarding the care of paint,upholstery, trim items and convertibletops, as applicable, must be followedexplicitly to maintain your warrantycoverage.

Please keep this copy withyour vehicle records.Tires are warranted by the tiremanufacturer, many authorized MercedesBenz Sprinter dealers are also tire dealersand can assist you in obtaining tireadjustments.Body Repair InformationDue to the materials and assemblyprocedures used in the production ofMercedes-Benz vehicles, it is stronglyrecommended that any paint work/bodyrepairs be performed only by those repairfacilities which have been authorizedby MBC as having the tools, equipmentand training necessary to perform suchrepairs.While the vehicle owner may elect to haverepairs (collision damage/paint repairwork) performed by any automobile bodyrepair establishment or individual, damageor malfunction caused by body repairs notperformed in accordance with MercedesBenz specified repair procedures arenot covered by the Mercedes-Benz NewVehicle Limited Warranty.Should your vehicle need paint work/bodyrepair or if you have any questions pleasecontact your authorized Mercedes-BenzSprinter Dealer or call 1-800-387-0100.13

16Service and WarrantyEmission Control System Warranty - VehiclesEmission WarrantyThis Warranty Does Not Apply To:Mercedes-Benz Canada warrants to theoriginal and each subsequent owner ofan OM642 engine that emission relatedcomponents of such engines are freefrom defects in material and workmanshipat the time of initial sale which wouldcause it not to confirm with applicableregulations issued by EnvironmentCanada.1. The repair or replacement of warrantedparts which are scheduled to bereplaced prior to 160,000 km. Theseparts are no longer covered once theyhave been replaced at the first requiredreplacement interval during a regularmaintenance service.2. Any vehicle on which the odometerkm has been altered and thevehicle’s actual km cannot be readilydetermined.3. Loss of time, inconvenience, loss of theuse of the vehicle or similar incidentalor consequential damages.The warranty will be performed by anyauthorized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dealerof the owner’s choice - repairing, replacingor adjusting at the dealer’s discretion,upon delivery of the vehicle to the dealer’splace of business without charge for partsand labour (including diagnosis), usingGenuine Mercedes-Benz service parts,to assure compliance with applicableregulations. Parts replaced under thiswarranty become the property of thewarrantor. This warranty is available onlyon vehicles purchased and operated inCanada.

Service and WarrantyEmission Control System Maintenance - VehiclesGeneralThe law requires your vehicle to conformto exhaust emission standards. To providethe best vehicle performance and lowestvehicle emissions, you are responsible tosee that all recommended maintenanceprocedures detailed in the Service Bookletare performed at the specified timesand km. The emission control systemwarranty does not cover failures duesolely to owner abuse or lack of propermaintenance.More frequent maintenance may beneeded for vehicles under severeoperating conditions such as dusty areas,very short trip driving or trailer towing.We recommend that all maintenanceservices be performed by your authorizedMercedes-Benz Sprinter dealer who isequipped with the tools, instruments,and literature necessary for correctand systematic performance of theseservices. We recommend the use ofGenuine Mercedes-Benz spare parts forservice and repairs, since they have beenmade according to the manufacturer’sspecifications. It is also important to useonly fuels and lubricants meeting factoryspecifications, since the emission controlsystems warranty does not cover repairor replacement of parts necessitated byfailure of such items.For detailed information concerningemission control system maintenance,please refer to your Service Booklet.17

Service and WarrantyCorrosion WarrantyThis Warranty Covers:Surface Corrosion: Surface corrosionon the vehicle body for a period of 36months or 60,000 km from date of firstregistration, whichever occurs first.Perforation: The perforation corrosionwarranty has two time and mileage limits: For sheet metal panels, the limitis 36 months from the date of firstregistration with no mileage limit. For an outer-body sheet metal panel- one that is finish-painted and thatsomeone can see when walking aroundthe vehicle - the limits are 5 years fromthe date of first registration or 160,000km on the odometer, whichever occursfirst.1. If any defects should be found whichcause surface corrosion or perforation(as defined below) within the respectiveperiods stated above, any authorizedMercedes-Benz Sprinter dealer willrepair or replace (at its sole option)such defects to any vehicle bodyparts (defined below), provided thatyou demonstrate adherence to theOperator’s Manual for the care andmaintenance of the vehicle as outlinedtherein. All parts replaced under thiswarranty become the property of MBC.2. “Surface corrosion” means rust orcorrosion affecting any readily visiblesurface area of the vehicle body butnot including external damage to paintor plated surfaces or rust or corrosionresulting from damage by stone chips,other impacts or chemicals.3. “Perforation” means the rust orcorrosion of any components of thevehicle body through from the innersurface to the outer surface.4. “Vehicle Body” means any movingor non-moving metal components ofthe vehicle including parts replacedunder this warranty, but not includingthose components which form part ofthe vehicle underbody, power train,steering, suspension, braking orexhaust systems.19

Surface corrosion or perforation toVehicle Body components that wererepaired, replaced or refinished afterthe vehicle was first sold at retail,other than (i) repairs, replacementsor refinishes performed under thiswarranty; or (ii) replacements due toaccident or damage ONLY WHERESUCH REPLACEMENTS ARE GENUINEMERCEDES-BENZ PARTS, AND ARERETREATED WITH GENUINE MERCEDESBENZ BODY CAVITY RUST-PROOFINGAND REFINISHING MATERIALS.2. Surface corrosion or perforation tothe Vehicle Body caused by abuse orimproper maintenance.3. Surface corrosion or perforation wherepaint has been damaged by roadhazards, such as stones and debris.4. Surface corrosion or perforation causedby any part of the Vehicle Body beingsubmerged in water, sand or mud, orexposed to corrosive gas or airbornefallout, such as chemicals and tree sap,or by road salt, hail, windstorm or otherenvironmental factors.5. Paint matching. (MBC reserves the rightto decide whether painting the repairedor replaced panel to match the originalfinish is practicable.
