Please read it carefully andtake it with You on Your trip.Section 2 – IntroductionCertificate of InsuranceThis Certificate applies to the TD Aeroplan VisaInfinite Privilege Card, which will be referred toas a “TD Credit Card” throughout the Certificate.TD Life Insurance Company (“TD Life”) providesthe insurance for this Certificate under GroupPolicy No. TGV002 (the “Group Policy”). Travel MedicalInsuranceSECTION 2 – DEFINITIONSIn this Certificate, the following wordsand phrases shown in italics have themeanings shown below. As You readthrough the Certificate, You may need torefer to this section to ensure You havea full understanding of Your coverage,limitations and exclusions.Account means the PrimaryCardholder’s TD Credit Card Accountthat the Bank maintains.Additional Cardholder means a personto whom a TD Credit Card has beenissued at the authorization of the PrimaryCardholder.Administrator means the company Weselect to provide medical and claimsassistance, claims payment,administrative and adjudicationservices under the Group Policy.Bank means The Toronto-DominionBank.Certificate means this certificate ofinsurance.Coverage Period means the period oftime during which a Medical Emergencymust occur for a benefit to be payable.This period is defined in section 5.Covered Trip means a trip: made by an Insured Person outside theInsured Person’s province or territory ofresidence; that does not exceed the MaximumNumber of Covered Days, including thedeparture date; and that does not extend to or past: the date the Insured Person nolonger meets the eligibilityrequirements set out in section 3; or the date coverage terminates asdescribed in section 4.Note: In the event of a claim, the InsuredPerson will be required to submit proof ofthe departure. Only a MedicalEmergency occurring during a CoveredTrip will be eligible for consideration.Note that the day of departure counts asa full day for this purpose.Exclusions: A Covered Trip does not include anytrip for the purpose of commuting to orfrom an Insured Person’s usual place ofemployment. Coverage is only provided under theGroup Policy if the Medical Emergencyoccurs within the Maximum Number ofCovered Days that the Insured Person isfirst away from his or her province orterritory of residence. Note that the dayof departure counts as a full day for thispurpose.Note: If the Insured Person’s tripexceeds the Maximum Number ofCovered Days, the Insured Person maywant to purchase separate insuranceunder a different TD Life group policy forthe number of days that the trip willexceed the Maximum Number ofCovered Days. Different terms andconditions will apply and, depending onthe Insured Person’s age and the lengthof their trip, the Insured Personmay be required to provide informationabout their health. Call TD Life prior toYour departure date at 1-866-374-1129for more information or if You would liketo obtain a quote.Section 4 – DefinitionsIn this Certificate, the following words andphrases capitalized and italicized have themeanings shown below. As You read throughthe Certificate, You may need to refer to thisSection to ensure You have a full understandingof Your coverage, limitations and exclusions.Account means the Primary Cardholder’s TDCredit Card Account that the Bank maintains.Additional Cardholder means a person towhom a TD Credit Card has been issued at theauthorization of the Primary Cardholder.Bank means The Toronto-Dominion Bank.Certificate means this Certificate of Insurance.Coverage Period means the time betweenwhen the eligible Insured Person departs on aCovered Trip and the return date up to theMaximum Number of Covered Days. Please seeSection 7 – “How to Become Insured or ExtendCoverage” of the Certificate for full details.Covered Trip means a trip: made by an Insured Person outside theInsured Person’s province or territory ofresidence; that does not exceed the Maximum Number ofCovered Days, including the Departure Date;and that does not extend to or past: the date the Insured Person no longermeets the eligibility requirements; or the date coverage terminates.Note: In the event of a claim, the InsuredPerson will be required to submit proof of thedeparture. Only a Medical Emergency occurringduring a Covered Trip will be eligible forconsideration. Note that the day of departurecounts as a full day for this purpose.Exclusions: A Covered Trip does not include any trip forthe purpose of commuting to or from anInsured Person’s usual place of employment. Coverage is only provided under the GroupPolicy if the Medical Emergency occurs withinthe Maximum Number of Covered Days thatthe Insured Person is first away from theirprovince or territory of residence. Note thatthe day of departure counts as a full day forthis purpose.Note: If the Insured Person’s trip exceeds theMaximum Number of Covered Days, theInsured Person may want to purchase separateinsurance under a different TD Life group policyfor the number of days that the trip will exceedthe Maximum Number of Covered Days.Different terms and conditions will apply and,depending on the Insured Person’s age and thelength of their trip, the Insured Person may berequired to provide information about theirhealth. Call Our Administrator at1-866-374-1129 prior to Your Departure Datefor more information or if You would like toobtain a quote.Departure Date means the date the InsuredPerson left their home province/territory ofresidence.Dependent Children mean Your natural,adopted, or stepchildren who are: unmarried; dependent on You for financial maintenanceand support; and under 22 years of age; or under 26 years of age and attending aninstitution of higher learning, full time, inCanada; or mentally or physically handicapped.Dollars and mean Canadian dollars.3

Dependent Children means Yournatural, adopted, or step-children whoare: unmarried; dependent on You for financialmaintenance and support; and under 22 years of age; or under 26 years of age and attendingan institution of higher learning, fulltime, in Canada; or mentally or physically handicapped.Exclusion: A Dependent Child does notinclude a child born while the child’smother is outside her province orterritory of residence during the CoveredTrip. The child will not be insured withrespect to that trip.Dollars and mean Canadian dollars.Effective Date means the date thisCertificate takes effect with respect toYou, and is the later of March 17, 2008,and the date on which an Account isopened by the Bank for You and Youmeet the eligibility requirements set outin section 3 with respect to this Account.Eligible Medical Emergency Expensesare defined in section 6.Emergency Medical Benefit is definedin section 6.Government Health Insurance Plan(GHIP) means a Canadian provincial orterritorial government health insuranceplan.Good Standing: An Account is in GoodStanding if: the Primary Cardholder has applied forthe Account; the Bank has approved and opened theAccount; the Primary Cardholder has notadvised the Bank to close the Account;and the Bank has not suspended orrevoked credit privileges or otherwiseclosed the Account.Hospital means an institution that has been accreditedand licensed by the appropriate authorityas a Hospital to treat patients on anin-patient, outpatient and emergencybasis; or the nearest appropriate medical facilitythat has been approved in advance byOur Administrator.Exclusion: Hospital does not includechronic care, convalescent ornursing home facilities.Hospitalized or Hospitalization meansconfined as an in-patient in a Hospital.Insured Person means a person who iseligible to be insured under thisCertificate as described in section 3.Maximum Number of Covered Daysmeans 31 consecutive days for InsuredPersons under 65 years of age and 4consecutive days for Insured Persons 65years of age or older. The departuredate counts as one full day for thispurpose. Age will be measured as of thedate ofdeparture for this purpose.Medical Condition means anirregularity in the health of an InsuredPerson which required or requiresmedical advice, consultation,investigation, Treatment, care, service ordiagnosis by a Physician.Eligible Medical Emergency Expenses aredefined in Section 5 – “Description of InsuranceCoverage”.Government Health Insurance Plan (GHIP)means a Canadian provincial or territorialgovernment health insurance plan.Good Standing means an Account is in GoodStanding if: the Primary Cardholder has applied for theAccount; the Bank has approved and opened theAccount; the Primary Cardholder has not advised theBank to close the Account; and the Bank has not suspended or revoked creditprivileges or otherwise closed the Account.Hospital means: an institution that is licensed as an accreditedhospital that is staffed and operated for thecare and Treatment of in-patient andoutpatients. Treatments must be supervisedby Physicians and there must be registerednurses on duty 24 hours a day. Diagnosticand surgical capabilities must also exist onthe premises or in facilities controlled by theestablishment; a Hospital is not an establishment used mainlyas a clinic, extended or palliative care facility,rehabilitation facility, addiction treatment centre,convalescent, rest or nursing home, home forthe aged or health spa.Hospitalized or Hospitalization meansconfined as an in-patient in a Hospital.Immediate Family Member means an InsuredPerson’s: Spouse, parents, stepparent, grandparents,natural or adopted children, stepchildren orlegal ward, grandchildren, brothers, sisters,stepbrothers, stepsisters, aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews; and mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers-in-law,sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law;and the Insured Person’s Spouse’s grandparents,brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.Insured Person means a person who is eligibleto be insured under this Certificate described inSection 3 – “Eligibility”.Maximum Number of Covered Days meansthe first 31 consecutive days for InsuredPersons 64 years of age and under, and the first4 consecutive days for Insured Persons 65years of age or older. The Departure Datecounts as 1 full day for this purpose. Age will bemeasured as of the Departure Date for thispurpose.Medical Condition means any disease, illness,or injury (including symptoms of undiagnosedconditions; complication of pregnancy within thefirst 31 weeks of pregnancy; a mental oremotional disorder, including acute psychosisthat requires admission to a Hospital).Medical Emergency means a sudden andunforeseen Medical Condition that occursduring the Covered Trip and requires immediateTreatment. A Medical Emergency no longerexists when the evidence reviewed by OurAdministrator indicates that no furtherTreatment is required at destination or You areable to return to Your province/territory ofresidence for further Treatment.Mountaineering means the ascent or descentof a mountain requiring the use of specializedequipment, including crampons, pick-axes,anchors, bolts, carabineers or lead-rope ortop-rope anchoring equipment.4

Medical Emergency means anyunforeseen illness or accidental bodilyinjury occurring during a Covered Tripthat requires immediate emergencymedical Treatment by a Physician.Physician means a Physician orsurgeon who is registered or licensed topractice medicine in the jurisdictionwhere he or she provides medical adviceor Treatment and who is not related byblood or marriage to any Insured Personunder this Certificate.Pre-Existing Condition means aMedical Condition: for which symptoms appeared in thePre-Existing Condition Period; that was investigated, diagnosed orTreated during the Pre-ExistingCondition Period, where Treatmentincludes medication; or for which further investigation wasrecommended or prescribed, or forwhich a change in Treatment wasrecommended (including a change inmedication or dosage) during the PreExisting Condition Period.Pre-Existing Condition Period withrespect to any benefit under thisCertificate is as follows: Insured Persons under 65 years of age– 90 days immediately before thebeginning of the Coverage Period; and Insured Persons 65 years of age orolder – 180 days immediately before thebeginning of the Coverage Period.Primary Cardholder means a personwho applied for a TD Credit Card,whose name is on the Account and towhom a TD Credit Card has beenissued. A Primary Cardholder does notinclude an Additional Cardholder.Spouse means: the Insured Person’s legal husband orwife; or the person who the Insured Person haslived with for at least one year andpublicly represented as his or herdomestic partner.Stable means any Medical Condition orrelated condition (whether or not thediagnosis has been determined) forwhich there have been: no new or change in medication ordosage; no new or change in Treatment; no new or increase in frequency orseverity of symptoms; no referral or recommendation to see aspecialty clinic or specialist; no pending test results or testing; or no pending surgery or other Treatment.Travelling Companion means someonewho shares trip arrangements andaccommodations with You.Exceptions: No more than three (3)individuals (including You) will beconsidered travel companions on anyone trip.Treated or Treatment means anymedical, therapeutic or diagnosticprocedure prescribed, performed orrecommended by a Physician, includingbut not limited to prescribed orunprescribed medication, investigativetesting and surgery. The term“treatment” does not include thePhysician means a person who is not You orYour Immediate Family Member or YourTravelling Companion, licensed in thejurisdiction where the services are provided, toprescribe and administer medical treatment.Pre-Existing Medical Condition means anyMedical Condition that exists in the Pre-existingMedical Condition Period.Pre-Existing Medical Condition Period withrespect to any benefit under this Certificate is asfollows: Insured Persons 64 years of age and under –90 days immediately before the beginning ofthe Coverage Period; and Insured Persons 65 years of age or older –180 days immediately before the beginning ofthe Coverage Period.Primary Cardholder means a person whoapplied for a TD Credit Card, whose name is onthe Account and to whom a TD Credit Card hasbeen issued. A Primary Cardholder does notinclude an Additional Cardholder.Spouse means: the person who the Insured Person is legallymarried to; or the person the Insured Person has lived withfor at least 1 continuous year in the samehousehold and publicly refers to as theirpartner.Stable: a Medical Condition, is consideredStable when all of the following statements aretrue:1. There has not been any new Treatmentprescribed or recommended, or change(s) toexisting Treatment (including a stoppage inTreatment); and2. there has not been any change to anyexisting prescribed drug (including anincrease, decrease, or stoppage to prescribeddosage), or any recommendation or startingof a new Prescription Drug; and3. the Medical Condition has not become worse;and4. there has not been any new, more frequent ormore severe symptoms; and5. there has been no Hospitalization or referralto a specialist; and6. there have not been any tests, investigationor Treatment recommended, but not yetcomplete, nor any outstanding test results;and7. there is no planned or pending Treatment.All of the above conditions must be met for aMedical Condition to be considered Stable.Note: The following exceptions are consideredStable: the routine adjustment of Coumadin, warfarinor insulin (as long as they are not newlyprescribed or stopped) and there has been nochange in Your Medical Condition; or a change from a brand name medication to ageneric brand medication of the samedosage.Travelling Companion means any person whotravels with You during the Covered Trip andwho is sharing transportation and/oraccommodation with You.Exceptions: No more than 3 individuals(including You) will be considered travelcompanions on any one trip.Treated or Treatment means a procedureprescribed, performed or recommended by aPhysician or other authorized health careprofessional for a Medical Condition. Thisincludes but is not limited to prescribedmedication, investigative testing or surgery.5

Changes to your Certificate of Insurance, as of March 24, 2022BenefitBeforeAfterunaltered use of prescribed medicationfor a Medical Condition which is Stable.Usual, Customary and ReasonableCharges means charges that do notexceed the general level of chargesmade by other providers of similarstanding in the geographical area wherecharges are incurred for comparableTreatment, services or supplies for asimilar Medical Emergency.We, Us and Our mean TD LifeInsurance Company.You and Your mean the PrimaryCardholder.Usual, Customary and Reasonable Chargesmean charges that do not exceed the generallevel of charges made by other providers ofsimilar standing in the geographical area wherecharges are incurred for comparable Treatment,services or supplies for a similar MedicalEmergency.We, Us and Our mean TD Life InsuranceCompany.You and Your mean the Primary Cardholder.6

Travel MedicalInsuranceSECTION 3 – ELIGIBILITYThe Primary Cardholder is eligible tobe insured under this Certificate if,throughout the Covered Trip, thePrimary Cardholder: is a resident of Canada; is covered by a Canadian provincialor territorial GHIP; and has an Account in Good Standing.The Primary Cardholder’s Spouse iseligible to be insured under thisCertificate if, throughout the CoveredTrip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible tobe insured under this Certificate asdescribed above, even if the PrimaryCardholder is not travelling; and the Spouse: is a resident of Canada; is covered by a Canadian provincialor territorial GHIP; and continues to meet the definition ofSpouse of the Primary Cardholder.The Primary Cardholder’s DependentChild is eligible to be insured underthis Certificate whether or not thePrimary Cardholder or the PrimaryCardholder’s Spouse travels withthem if, throughout the Covered Trip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible tobe insured under this Certificate asdescribed above, even if the PrimaryCardholder is not travelling; and the Dependent Child: is a resident of Canada; is covered by a Canadian provincialor territorial GHIP; and continues to meet the definition ofDependent Child.Exclusion: If a Dependent Child isborn while the child’s mother isoutside of her province of residence,the Dependent Child will not beinsured with respect to that trip.An Additional Cardholder is eligible tobe insured under this Certificate if,throughout the Covered Trip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible tobe insured under this Certificate asdescribed above, even if the PrimaryCardholder is not travelling; and the Additional Cardholder: is a resident of Canada; is covered by a Canadian provincialor territorial GHIP; and continues to meet the definition ofAdditional Cardholder.Note: The Spouse and children of anAdditional Cardholder are notautomatically eligible for coverageunder this Certificate unless theymeet other eligibility requirements setout above (e.g. if the child of anAdditional Cardholder is also theDependent Child of the PrimaryCardholder).Coverage after the Maximum Numberof Covered Days: This Certificate does not offer anycoverage after the end of theMaximum Number of Covered Days. If an Insured Person under age 65is planning a trip that will last morethan 31 days, or an Insured Personaged 65 or older is planning a tripthat will last more than 4 days, theInsured Person may want toSection 3 – EligibilityThe Primary Cardholder is eligible to beinsured under this Certificate if, throughout theCovered Trip, the Primary Cardholder: is a resident of Canada; is covered under a GHIP or a valid health careplan in Canada for members of the CanadianArmed Forces; and has an Account in Good Standing.The Primary Cardholder’s Spouse is eligibleto be insured under this Certificate if, throughoutthe Covered Trip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible to be insuredunder this Certificate as described above,even if the Primary Cardholder is nottravelling; and the Spouse: is a resident of Canada; is covered under a GHIP or a valid healthcare plan in Canada for members of theCanadian Armed Forces; and continues to meet the definition of Spouseof the Primary Cardholder.The Primary Cardholder’s Dependent Child iseligible to be insured under this Certificatewhether or not the Primary Cardholder or thePrimary Cardholder’s Spouse travels with themif, throughout the Covered Trip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible to beinsured under this Certificate as describedabove, even if the Primary Cardholder is nottravelling; and the Dependent Child: is a resident of Canada; is covered under a GHIP or a valid healthcare plan in Canada for members of theCanadian Armed Forces; and continues to meet the definition ofDependent Child.Exclusion: If a Dependent Child is born whilethe child’s mother is outside of her province orterritory of residence, the Dependent Child willnot be eligible to be insured with respect to thattrip.An Additional Cardholder is eligible to beinsured under this Certificate if, throughout theCovered Trip: the Primary Cardholder is eligible to be insuredunder this Certificate as described above,even if the Primary Cardholder is nottravelling; and the Additional Cardholder: is a resident of Canada; is covered under a GHIP or a valid healthcare plan in Canada for members of theCanadian Armed Forces; and continues to meet the definition of AdditionalCardholder.Note: The Spouse and children of an AdditionalCardholder are not eligible for coverage underthis Certificate unless they meet other eligibilityrequirements set out above (e.g., if the child ofan Additional Cardholder is also the DependentChild of the Primary Cardholder).Coverage after the Maximum Number ofCovered Days: This Certificate does not offer any coverageafter the end of the Maximum Number ofCovered Days. If an Insured Person 64 years of age andunder is planning a trip that will last more than31 days, or an Insured Person 65 years ofage or older is planning a trip that will lastmore than 4 days, the Insured Person maywant to purchase separate insurance for thenumber of days that the trip will exceed theMaximum Number of Covered Days.7
