ROG 2685 OCT UGD EN.qxd:5006219RW User Guide11/30/095:55 AMINFORMATION &EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE411 DIRECTORY ASSISTANCEWhen you need a number or address, just dial 411 on your wirelessphone. Our 411 service gives you access to all listed numbers in Canada(a fee applies, plus long distance, if applicable). Now also offers mobilelistings, weather forecast and driving directions.HOW 411 WORKS:When you call 411, we’ll tell you the number, automatically dialthe call for you, then we’ll send the full listing to your phone in atext message so you have a record of it for next time.9-1-1 EMERGENCY ASSISTANCEAny wireless phone registered on the Rogers Wireless network can beused to dial 9-1-1 for assistance in the case of an emergency. 9-1-1 callsare automatically routed to the most appropriate public safety agency. When calling 9-1-1 always provide your name, wireless phone numberand the specific location from which you are calling. And remember, it'simportant to speak clearly. Unlike wireline-based 9-1-1, the emergencyoperator does not necessarily know your actual location until youprovide this information. Stay on the line for as long as the 9-1-1operator requires. Calls to 9-1-1 are free so take all the time that youneed. Leave your handset turned on after hanging up in case the 9-1-1operator needs to call you back. Please do not program 9-1-1 into yourspeed dial. This can lead to accidental calls that take up valuableemergency resources.23Pa

ROG 2685 OCT UGD EN.qxd:5006219RW User Guide11/30/09Calls to 9-1-1 from your wireless phone are subject to the samelimitations as regular wireless calls. For example, if you are undergroundor too far from a wireless network antenna, the quality of your call maybe affected, or you may not be able to connect to the network.PHASE ONE OF ENHANCED 9-1-1Phase One of Enhanced 9-1-1 or E9-1-1 is designed to help 9-1-1operators react more quickly and accurately in emergency situations.E9-1-1 provides emergency operators with the phone number of thecaller and the location of the wireless network antenna receiving thecall but not the caller's exact location. The caller must still provide thisinformation. The caller's phone number allows the emergency operatorto re-establish contact with the caller if the connection is lost. Thewireless network antenna location helps emergency operators identifythe most appropriate emergency services to dispatch.PHASE TWO OF ENHANCED 9-1-1Phase Two of Enhanced 9-1-1 is designed to provide more accuratelocation information than Phase One. E9-1-1 emergency operators thathave the necessary systems deployed will not only receive the caller’sphone number but will also receive geographic co-ordinates associatedwith the caller’s approximate location. A caller’s location will beautomatically determined using special technology enabled in theRogers network and in certain handsets and will help ensure that allcallers get the proper help as quickly as possible.Any customer registered on the Rogers Wireless network in an areaserved by E9-1-1 that has the necessary systems deployed will haveaccess to Phase One and Two. This includes Rogers Wireless customers intheir local area and Rogers Wireless customers visiting an area inCanada served by E9-1-1.245:55 AMPa

ROG 2685 OCT UGD EN.qxd:5006219RW User Guide11/30/095:55 AMIMPORTANT 9-1-1 REMINDERS 9-1-1 is reserved for emergency situations only. For assistancein non-emergency situations, please contact your local police service. 9-1-1 calls on the Rogers Wireless network are always free. Do not pre-program 9-1-1 into your phone’s speed dial to eliminatethe chance of placing an accidental call to 9-1-1. For more information about 9-1-1 on the Rogers Wireless network, visit rogers.com/911HOW TO REPORT AN EMERGENCY1Immediately tell the operator that you arecalling from a wireless phone and provide your10-digit phone number and your name.2Provide details of the emergency.3Give as much information about the locationas you can, such as highway/street name andlandmarks. Unlike wireline-based E9-1-1, theemergency operator does not know your actuallocation until you provide this information.4Follow all instructions provided by the emergencyoperator. Do not end the call until the operatortells you to do so and leave your phone turnedon should the operator need to call you back.25Pa

All calls that you receive onyour wireless device while you are physically within that area are local. All calls that you receive while physically outside of that area are longdistance. The number calling you is irrelevant!27Pa

ROG 2685 OCT UGD EN.qxd:5006219RW User Guide11/30/09Outgoing calling is when you place a call on your wireless device.Your Outgoing Local Calling Area is determined by your physicallocation -- the area you are in at any given moment. If you dial anumber that is local to your physical location, then it is a local call. Ifyou dial a number that is long distance to your physical location, then itis a long distance call. Your wireless number is irrelevant!*Note: In the case of mobile to mobile calling, the physical location ofthe number you are calling is also irrelevant.Call Forwarding is when an incoming call is routed from your wirelessphone number to another number. Your Call Forwarding Local CallingArea is determined by your wireless phone number. The location ofyour wireless device when you receive the call is irrelevant!Q. Not sure if the number you wish to dial is long distanceto your location?A.
