Reporting to Dr. Mitch Cordova, the Vice President forStudent Success and Enrollment Management, the Associate Vice President, Student Engagement serveson the Vice President Leadership Team and is an active participant in all aspects of University-wide studentengagement. This administrator provides leadership and administrative oversight for Housing & ResidenceLife, Student Health Services, Campus Recreation, Prevention & Wellness, and Campus Life. While a startdate is negotiable, the preference is November 1, 2022.ABOUT THE UNIVERSITYAccepting its first student in 1997, Florida Gulf CoastUniversity (FGCU) is one of the newest memberinstitutions of the State University System of Floridaand is celebrating its 25th year anniversary. Dr. MichaelV. THE OPPORTUNITYThe Associate Vice President (AVP), StudentEngagement reports directly to the Vice President forStudent Success & Enrollment Management (SS&EM).The AVP works collaboratively with the Vice Presidentof SS&EM and its leadership team to: Deliver intentional meaningful living and learningexperiences that provide students support and createsa culture of belonging and engagement across theuniversity. Offer comprehensive health services that supportthe physical, mental and emotional well-being ofstudents. Offer programming that facilitates studentengagement and connection to the larger campuscommunity.The AVP’s Leadership team includes the AssistantVice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students,Director of Campus Recreation, Director of Housing& Residential Life, Director of Prevention & Wellness,and Director of Student Health Services.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provide oversight and direction to the Assistant VicePresident of Campus Life and Dean of Students todevelop a comprehensive campus life program thatmaximizes opportunities for student engagement oncampus for the following: Fraternity and Sorority Life,Student Involvement, Student Programming Board,Student Government, Multicultural and LeadershipDevelopment Center, and Eagle Media. PRESIDENT MICHAEL V. MARTIN, PH.D.President Martin became FGCU’s fourth President on July 1, 2017. He came to FGCUfrom the Colorado State University System, where he served most recently as ChancellorEmeritus and Senior Fellow following three years as Chancellor. Prior to this, he wasChancellor of Louisiana State University; President of New Mexico State University; VicePresident for Agriculture and Natural Resources at University of Florida; Vice Presidentfor Agricultural Policy at University of Minnesota; and served 15 years on the faculty,including a term as Faculty Senate President, at Oregon State University.VICE PRESIDENT MITCH CORDOVA, PH.D.Dr. Cordova serves as the founding Vice President for Student Success & EnrollmentManagement since 2018. A Professor of Rehabilitation Sciences, he previously servedfor nearly seven years as Dean of FGCU’s Marieb College of Health & Human Serves.Prior to his arrival at FGCU, Dr. Cordova served as Professor and Chairperson of theDepartment of Kinesiology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte for six yearswhere he also served as Founding Director of the Biodynamics Research Laboratory andResearch Faculty in the Center for Bioengineering Systems.
